Classes
I offer beginning,
post-beginning and intermediate glass beadmaking classes at my home
studio in The Woodlands, TX. Most of the time I teach one-on-one so
that we work on what you want to learn.
In the beginning class,
you'll learn safety, glass properties, equipment and basic
beadmaking techniques, including making round beads, pulling
stringer and adding surface decoration. As an option, I offer a
post-beginner class for those who haven’t been to the torch in a
while and want a refresher course. In the intermediate class, we’ll
do more advanced stringer work, learn to encase, and work with frits
and various stamping tools.
As a different option, I
offer classes in one-hour increments. If you're having trouble with
a certain technique, you can reserve an hour with me and I'll show
you how to improve your technique. Classes or techniques which are
available include, but aren't limited to, florals, twisties, canes,
encasement and stamping tools.
The Woodlands is located
just north of Houston. I'm close to the airport and have many hotels
located within 10-15 minutes of my house. If you want more
information, just
email me!

This is my studio. It was built inside my
garage. I have two AC units for those hot Texas summers! The pig
on the wall was painted by my then 4-year old....he keeps me
company while I'm making beads (the pig...not my son)!
The Skutt kiln is the oven-shaped thing on the
right. My stringers are being held by a wonderful invention made
by my father-in-law. The stringer holder turns (like a lazy
susan) and holds tons of stringers! |
Here is all the glass that I use. It's
separated out by Italian transparents on the bottom, then
opaques. The Czech and German glasses are on the top.
The radio is a definite necessity! If you look
closely you can see my second torch. |

Here's my work table. It's actually clean in
this picture because I was expecting a student! I work on a
Bobcat torch made by GTT Technologies. You can see my mandrels
and the tools that I use. I have lots of pressing tools which
make neat shapes like stop signs and coins. The bowl is filled
with water in case I have to remove glass. |
